Sarah Hollands
In a letter dated 6.7.1987, Frank Clark says that Sarah HOLLAND's parents are Francis HOLLAND and Anna TYSEHURST (bap. 8.4.1722 Bishopstone) who married 12.11.1743 at Bishopstone. Anna TYSEHURST's parents were Thomas TICEHURST and Anne SMITH (bap. 16.1.1698 Bishopstone) who married 11.5.1721 at Bishopstone. Thomas's parents were Thomas TICEHURST and Hannah GATE (m. 6.5.1684) and Anne's parents were Richard SMITH and Anne. However, this has not been checked.

The only HOLLANDS' in Newhaven in the mid 1700's were Thomas and Elizabeth HOLLANDS who first appear in 1760 with the baptism of their son Thomas on 4.12.1760. There were no HOLLANDS previous to this (checked back to 1727). The only other entries for Thomas and Elizabeth in Newhaven were the baptism of daughter Mary on 31.5.1762 and her later burial on 15.1.1763. The Sussex Marriage Index has a marriage for Thomas HOLLANDS and Elizabeth BECKET, 22.5.1757, both of & at Newhaven. It is therefore probable that Thomas is the brother of Sarah HOLLANDS.
A Thomas Hollands was a juror on a coronial inquest in Newhaven on 13 May 1769. Also on the jury was a John Terry, possibly the brother in law of Thomas.1
Sarah Hollands married John Terry on 11 October 1765 at Newhaven, Sussex, England, by banns, both of this parish.2
The parish register indicates that a tax was levied for baptisms after about 1.10.1783. However, John and Sarah were classified as paupers on all baptisms after this date and so did not have to pay.
Sarah Hollands was buried on 22 November 1794 at Newhaven, Sussex, England.
