Thomas Taylor was born in 1757 at West Firle, Sussex, England.
Thomas Taylor was baptized on 16 October 1757 at West Firle, Sussex, England. He was the son of Abraham Taylor and Ann (?).
The following baptisms were the possibilities for Thomas TAYLOR and were found in the IGI for Sussex:
16.10.1757 bap. Thomas son of Abraham and Ann TAYLOR, West Firle (7710377 91)
12.7.1756 bap. Thomas son of George and Mary TAYLOR, Lewes St Michael (7704816 91)
16.9.1751 bap. Thomas son of Elias and Susanna TAYLOR, Glynde (P013961 0534)
9.12.1761 bap. Thomas son of William and Mary TAYLER, Horsham (C070641 0279)
Also of interest, 29.9.1724 bap. Abraham son of Abraham TAYLOR, Glynde
21.5.1769 bap. Abraham son of William and Ann TAYLOR, Glynde

The parents of our Thomas TAYLOR are most likely to be Abraham and Ann Taylor of West Firle because:
1. Thomas left Ringmer sometime after 1786. Baptisms to a Thomas and Anne TAYLOR appear in West Firle after this date. Maybe they had to return to their parish of legal settlement (the parish where they were born). Also, their son Abraham settled in West Firle.
2. The names of children of Abraham and Ann are almost the same as those for Thomas and Anne.

The book "Eastern Sussex Settlement Certificates 16701832" ed. M.J. Burchall contains the following entry for Ringmer:
Joseph Taylor, wife Diana, 25.12.1773 from Buxted.
No connection has been established to this as yet.
Thomas Taylor married Anne Forde on 1 December 1780 at Ringmer, Sussex, England. The marriage banns were read on 1st, 8th, and 15th October 1780.
The family appears to have moved from Ringmer sometime after 1786. The parish of West Firle is likely as their son Abraham settled there. The baptism for Sarah (1789) at West Firle was found in the East Sussex Baptisms Index (M. Burchall Collection). The word "paupers" was written against the entry indicating that they did not have to pay the baptisms tax. There are probably more children to be found as the film containing the baptisms index only went to 1790.
The Sussex Militia List of 1803 for West Firle lists:
Abraham Taylor, aged 17 to 30 years, wiling to serve
William Taylor, aged 17 to 30 years, wiling to serve
Thomas Taylor, aged 17 to 55 years, wiling to serve
Could these be the father Thomas and two of his sons, or perhaps the three sons?
Thomas Taylor died in 1823 at West Firle, Sussex, England.
Thomas Taylor was buried on 25 November 1823 at West Firle, Sussex, England, age given as 69 yrs. The following burials are the possibilities for Thomas TAYLOR:
25.11.1823 Thomas TAILOR West Firle aged 69 (would be 66)
22.7.1835 Thomas TAYLOR Beddingham aged 78 (would be 77)
The second came from the East Sussex Burial Index for TAYLOR's. Anne TAYLOR's burial place may give a clue here but it has not yet been found (it possibly occurred before 1812).
Also, from the SFHG on-line burial index:
2.12.1838      Thomas Taylor      Beddingham     aged 77 yrs (would be 81 ).1
