Moses had a railway accident, according to his grandaughter Minnie Topping, which resulted in him losing a leg. He had a wooden (cork) leg after this and retired on a pension and bought a large house at 56 Gladstone Place, Brighton.7

"In Loving Memory of Harriet the beloved wife of Moses Taylor died March 2nd 1918 age 67 years. Rest on, Dear Mother, thy labours o'er. Thy willing hands will toil no more. A faithful mother, true and kind. No friend on earth like thee we find.
Also the above named Moses Taylor died April 18th 1928 aged 82 years. Reunited. At Rest. Also of William, son of the above died July 8th 1888. Aged 11 months".

After Moses' death in 1928 the house went to the daughter Ethel and Winifred and money was left to George, Edwin and Winifred.7
