It appears as if Stephen died c1770 as there are two burials in Brighton St Nicholas for "Elizabeth Marchant (widow)" - one 20 Feb 1772 and the other 3 Sep 1776. In addition, Stephen and Elizabeth are not mentioned in his father's will of 1772.1
