Our family emigrated to Australia on the 10-06-66, we arrived in Sydney after a 6 weeks boat trip from the UK, on the Greek Shipping Line called "Australis". We stayed at Cabramatta Migrant Hostel (not nice) until Dad got a Silk Screen Printing job 3 weeks later and we moved to Bradfield Migrant Hostel in a better suburb near Lane Cove. A year later we moved into our own flat in Deewhy near the beach. Then 18 mths later we travelled to the Central Coast, an hour and a half north of Sydney to check it out over the weekend, as friends of dad had said it was delightful and out of the rat-race of the city. We loved it, so we moved there and Dad commuted each day to Sydney for 8 yrs. We have been here ever since - Yvonne Predabon (nee Marchant).
Earl Julian Alfred Marchant died on 25 January 2001 at Gosford Hospital, Gosford, NSW, Australia, at age 68. He died of asbestosis, after working with asbestos many years before.
